Out of State Opportunity

Round Lake Public Library in Round Lake, IL is looking for a youth librarian. 

POSITION: Librarian I - Youth Services
SCHEDULE: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, including early morning, afternoon,
evening, and weekend hours. Schedule subject to change.
SALARY RANGE: $17.26 - $25.88 hourly (depending on qualifications); Salary
Category 6.

* MLIS degree is preferred, but will consider MLIS student with comparable
* One to three years previous work experience with children or early childhood
education knowledge required preferred in a public library environment.
* Excellent knowledge of children's literature including current authors and
children's classics, and trends in Youth services.
* Proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook,
and internet browsers.
* All applicants are subject to a background check, and employment is
contingent on passing those assessments.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to lead school tours and to perform school/community presentations.
* Ability to speak Spanish helpful but not required.
* Skills in problem solving and decision-making.
* Work with a variety of staff members in a cordial and congenial manner.
* Take direction and accurately follow instructions.
* Provide outstanding customer service in person, on the telephone, and via email
and other forms of electronic communication.
* Work independently.
* Handle multiple activities or interruptions at once and to work positively and
effectively as a team member.
* Deal calmly and effectively with a wide range of individuals, in some instances
under stressful or emergency conditions.
* Ability to schedule work efficiently and set priorities.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule.
* Ability to work on call as needed. Schedule includes some morning, afternoon,
evening and weekend hours as needed.
* Ability to promote literacy.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to enjoy working with children.
