Part-time Internship with ALA

Description
The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest and largest library association in the world. Founded in 1876, our mission is to share our vision of the importance of libraries, literacy and free access to information. ALA offers professional services and publications to members and nonmembers throughout the library profession. Our main office is located in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast, right off of Michigan Ave, with satellite offices in Washington, DC, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
The Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services ( ODLOS) supports library and information science workers in creating safe, responsible, and all-inclusive spaces that serve and represent the entire community. Using a social justice framework, we work with experts and facilitate or develop continuing education opportunities that address equity, diversity, and access. 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of ODLOS, this position provides administrative support for ODLOS including set-up and management of webinars and web based courses. Assist in conference preparation, coordination of speakers and program planners. Create and update content on Web site. Will also provide support on other special projects as needed.

Requirements

Minimum one to two years experience in an office environment.

College graduate or current student with some post-secondary education/training preferred.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Self-starter, efficient, productive, ability to work independently and learn new software. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Experience with distance learning software (such as Moodle, GoToWebinar, Adobe Connect Pro), and social media preferred.

Open to Multiple Areas of Study: Library and Information Science, Advertising, Architecture, Arts Management, Communications, Computer Science, Cultural Studies, Design, Education, Environmental Studies, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, and more.

Up to 20 hours per week, Monday - Friday. The final work schedule can be negotiated upon hire.
